LaVar Ball believes his sons are worth $1 billion in shoe deal | FOX Sport

The kid is great but this would get on my nerves if Ball played at UK. It's all about Ball and really zip about UCLA. I read in another article that all three kids are driving luxury cars.

    Billion-dollar boys

During the interview, Ball also said he is prepared to package Lonzo and his two other sons — LiAngelo, a high school senior who has signed with UCLA, and LaMelo, a high school sophomore who has committed to UCLA — for a marketing deal with Nike, Adidas or Under Armour.

“A billion dollars, it has to be there," Ball said. “That’s our number, a billion, straight out of the gate. And you don’t even have to give it to me all up front. Give us $100 mil over 10 years."

The Ball boys already are riding in style — at least the two that have driver’s licenses. Lonzo and LiAngelo each drive $100,000 BMWs, said Ball, who is a self-employed personal trainer and whose wife, Tina, is a middle school physical education teacher.

“To get my boys a little $100,000 car, that’s nothing,’’ he said. “I don’t have to pay for education. I’m saving over $1 million dollars."

The math is sketchy. UCLA’s tuition for in-state residents is $34,000 a year, meaning Ball could save about $400,000, if each of his sons stayed at UCLA for four years. Lonzo is expected to go pro after this season and is projected as a top-five pick for the NBA draft.

I loathe this man. He makes me actively root against children.

No one should stoop to that level, but here I am. And I blame Lavar Ball.

I would love for Fox to outplay Ball next week and see Daddy Ball scratching his head in a Nike hat.

LaVar Ball, like Donald Trump, and in a smaller way like our own coach, is firmly in the "Say an outlandish thing to get people talking" school.

He shouldn't be taken literally. He's trying to constantly market his sons, his brand, and himself. It's shameless in a lot of ways but here we are, talking about him.

Does his marketing technique compare with the Louisville Lip?

Everytime this man opens his mouth he looks more foolish. The Steph Curry talk. The "we are only talking Lakers" talk. Now this. Keep putting the pressure on your sons. BTW, I read about the son who scored 90 or whatever it was. I read something by someone who was at that game and talked about how much of a farce it was. No defense by the other team. No defense by Ball even. Just a bunch of snowbirding. It was almost as if they other team got paid to lay down. Shameful. When we beat UCLA next weekend, I can't wait to read what his loud mouth Daddy says.

The technique may be similar, but this guy is way more foolish than Ali.

In my opinion, Ali was the top self promoter of his era, and one of the tops of all time.

Ball believes he invented the game, is the end all be all of bringing in the next MJ into the League. Well he can talk all day long, his son will have to back it up. I think he is good but no MJ / Magic or anything like that. I hear the youngest son might be the best. We shall see. Ali knew how to talk and back it up. Ball knows how to talk trash and that is it. To make the statement " i would have beat MJ in my prime" is just sad.

If Chino Hills HS can make it to CA State Championship game, I'll be there to watch.

Chino Hills may not have seen this coming – the national acclaim, the autograph seekers, the internet celebrity – but this is exactly what LaVar has envisioned since his three sons were born. For y…
